Troubleshooting
“No vehicle found” or the VIN won't decode
Check that the VIN has exactly 17 characters. VINs never contain the letters I, O or Q — they are usually 1 and 0. Motovexa covers vehicles with a 17-character VIN (1981 and later) built for the U.S. market; some older, imported or special vehicles may not decode.
“Couldn't connect” or the report won't load
Check your internet connection and try again, or switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. The public U.S. data services Motovexa uses are occasionally slow or under maintenance; reports you opened before are shown from the cache when possible.
A recall is listed, but my car may not be affected
Recalls are listed for the model and year. Tap “Check this exact VIN” in the app (it opens nhtsa.gov), or ask an authorized dealer. Safety-recall repairs are generally free at authorized dealers.
The scanner won't read the VIN
Scan the barcode on the driver-side door-jamb sticker in good light and hold the phone steady about 15–25 cm away. Windshield VIN plates are often hard to scan through glass — tap “Enter VIN manually” instead.
I'm not getting recall alerts or reminders
Save the car to your garage, then check Settings → Notifications in Motovexa and your phone's notification settings for Motovexa. Some phones restrict background apps; set Motovexa's battery usage to “Unrestricted”. Alerts are checked when you open the app.
